THE ADOPTION FEE FOR ELLIS IS £300 AS SHE IS A LARGE BREED DOG AND THE COST OF SPAYING HER IS MUCH HIGHER THAN FOR SMALLER DOGS

01-05-2019 - Ellis is a 5 year old ex breeding St Bernard. Ellis is a lovely girl but she is very timid and heavily rely on other dogs for comfort, because of this she is going to need a kind resident dog to help her help her learn about home life, house training and build her confidence to help her learn to enjoy being a dog for the very first time. Ellis will need a quiet home where her adopters understand scared, large dogs and dont mind some inevitable drool!!

10-06-2019 UPDATE

Ellis (called Ella here in her foster home) has been here for a few weeks. She is a very shut down girl that arrived emaciated, very weak and tired. Ella’s tail had to be docked as it was severely infected from a previous wound, we don’t know how this occurred but the operation she had at ManyTears to correct it went well and it has now healed up very nicely.
Ella is very quiet and fearful, it is going to take a lot of time to build up her confidence. She will need a family that has experience of very scared large dogs lots of patience and a kind gentle dog to guide her along her way.
Ella will do better in a quiet home without children, lots of space, a large garden and quiet country surroundings. She does not walk well on a lead yet and we are working on her house training, she eats lots of small high value meals to build up her weight she has a long way to go, the weight is going on very very slowly as she is quite selective, she is less than half the weight a Saint should be. Could you have the perfect home for Ella?

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
